We Remain Human brings people’s experiences into a shared space. This page explains what happens to information you give us and how to ask for help.
What you choose to share
We collect the story text or recordings you submit, your publication and privacy choices, your story reference, and the date of submission. A name and contact details are optional unless you ask us to follow up. If you request help finding a code, we collect the details you give us for that request.
You can share anonymously with the public. If you include identifying information in your story, recording, filename or optional contact fields, the team handling your submission may see it. Your voice, surroundings and experiences can also identify you. We cannot promise complete anonymity.
Private originals and public stories
Original submissions are saved in a private Google Drive archive. They are not placed in a public folder. Access is limited to the operator and people or services authorized to help process the story. We review your choices before preparing anything for publication. The public website is hosted by Wix.
A story reference connects future chapters for our team. It does not open your earlier submission or reveal its contents. Keep your code somewhere safe.
Why we use this information
We use submissions to review, edit and publish stories under the Submission Terms, honor privacy choices, connect continuations, provide requested follow-up and deal with safety, security or legal concerns. We do not automatically add story contributors to email updates.
Story emails are your choice
Newsletter signup collects your email address, the collections you select, and a record of your consent. You must confirm through an email link before receiving story updates. Every story email must include an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops story emails; it does not withdraw publication permission or change a story you submitted.
Newsletter records are kept separately from the story archive. If you opt in while submitting a story, the original submission also contains that consent and email. We retain a limited record of unsubscribe requests so we can respect them.
Editing and service providers
We may use transcription, captioning, editing, representative imagery or narration as described in the Submission Terms. We will not use submissions to train AI models or authorize production providers to do so.
Wix and Google process information needed to host the website, handle requests, store files and send email. Their services may process information in countries other than your own. Retention and removal
The Submission Terms describe the retention and removal arrangements. Contact us to request a correction, withdraw publication permission, or ask about deleting information. Include your story reference if you have it and only the details needed to identify your request. We may need to verify that a request relates to your story before acting.
We cannot retrieve copies that other people have downloaded, captured or reposted. We may need to retain limited information for legal obligations, disputes, security or to honor an unsubscribe request.
Safety and age
Submissions are for people aged 18 or older. We are not an emergency service and do not monitor submissions continuously. Limited information may be disclosed where required by law or necessary to address a credible risk of serious imminent harm, as described in the Submission Terms.
